Expectations

We have very high expectations of our students, both academically and socially.  Particular emphasis is placed upon:
  • Achieving success – making academic progress and gaining mastery of the skills needed for lifelong learning is our primary aim.
  • Taking part – making use of all the opportunities that our expanded curriculum can offer.  This includes full attendance and involvement in all compulsory and elective activities.  It also includes being at school every day unless excused for medical reasons.
  • Behaving in a sensible and mature manner – our rules are designed to ensure student welfare, safety and happiness.  These are strictly enforced and students who don’t adhere to our guidelines will find themselves being spoken to by Leaders of Learning, the Deputy Principal and/or Principal.  At Naenae Intermediate we have zero tolerance towards any form of bullying. We take this matter seriously and incidences will be dealt with accordingly.  The school also expects high standards of behaviour from our students while on the way to and from school.

Presenting oneself well – uniform is compulsory.  It must be worn at all times, including when coming to and going from school.  Please note also that we discourage outrageous hairstyles. Studs and watches are acceptable. Taonga (religious crucifix, bone carving, greenstone) may be worn underneath clothing.

Parents and caregivers are asked to support the school’s standards.

All parents have a right to expect the school staff to work hard for their children’s education.
Similarly, the school has the right to expect parents to provide the support necessary to achieve the best.

We believe that our students enjoy a safe and supportive learning environment.

Co-operation between home and school is the key to ensure positive outcomes for your child.
