Naenae Intermediate currently has a roll of 370 students. All students are required to wear a uniform.
This is an extremely well resourced school with all students having access to up to date Information and Communication Technology. The school's catchphrase is "Fully Focused on Learning" and we have established clear goals for future development. At the heart of these goals is the belief that there is nothing more important than the school's pupils being independent, self-motivated and life long learners. The school has a very strong emphasis on literacy, numeracy and mastery of technology skills.
The school is well equipped to meet the special academic needs of its students, with additional teachers employed to provide extension, (Future Problem Solving and Maths) literacy and NESB (Non English Speaking Background) programmes. We also have students involved in the Gifted Kid's Programme which is based at Rata Street School. Students have the opportunity to join the Venture Class, which uses resources not present in a normal school setting and encourages students to develop their own learning challenges. A language programme offers German, Japanese, French, Spanish, Samoan and Maori. The school has a large Special Needs department catering for physically and intellectually disabled students.
The school is very proud of its staff who provide students with many opportunities to participate in sporting and cultural events. Expectations for student behaviour and work standards are high and students are encouraged to take responsibility to ensure these standards are met. The school welcomes enquiries from all interested parents.
