2025 - BOARD OT TRUSTEES ELECTIONS
Naenae Intermediate School is holding elections for its School Board. These elections occur every three years for public schools in Aotearoa.
What do School Boards do? The School Board at Naenae Intermediate is responsible for the governance of the school. This includes:
Setting the strategic direction for the school.
Consulting with the school community on important matters.
Ensuring school funding is spent wisely.
Upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi (The Treaty of Waitangi) within the school.
The newly elected Board will officially take office in September.
Who is on the School Board? The Naenae Intermediate School Board consists of:
5 parent representatives.
The Principal.
A staff representative (elected by the school staff)
Do you need special skills to be on the School Board? No specific legal or business background is required. The most valued skills for board members are:
Working well as part of a team.
Being able to ask challenging questions.
Possessing strong communication skills.
Being connected to the school community.
A passion for education and the school community, along with a desire to help shape the school's future, are highly encouraged.
Election Process: This year, the election will be conducted electronically.
To vote electronically: Ensure your details, especially your current mobile number, are listed with the school.
Nominations: An email with a nomination link has been sent to those whose email addresses the school has on file. If you haven't received it, contact the school to update your email.
Paper nominations/voting: If you are unable to participate electronically, paper nomination forms are available from the school office.
An electoral roll can also be viewed at the school office.
Meredith Morris has been appointed as the school's Returning Officer to conduct the online election. She can be contacted via email if you have any questions: meredith@naenaeint.school.nz
Key Dates:
Nominations close: Wednesday, August 6th, at 12:00 noon.
Election Day: Wednesday, September 10th. All votes must be submitted by 4:00 PM.
